DU18 Villa charming Kristina in the heart of Dubrovnik

Description

For a holiday spent with a taste of luxury and an opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional spirit of the southern Adriatic coast, you came to the right place. Here, in the Pearl of the Adriatic, you can enjoy all the advantages of a rich historical surrounding and live like a Republic of Ragusa aristocrat. Villa Charming Kristina was built in 1930s by a wealthy family from Dubrovnik, in a style representing the centuries old culture of the UNESCO protected city. It is positioned only a few minutes of distance from the Pile gate, the main entrance to the Old Town and a nice 10 minutes walk through a pine forest to Dance or Sulic beaches. Within the property and around its enclosure you will find a number of various plants, some growing from the rich land and some placed in lovely vintage vases. The villa uses stone as its main construction material, which is what makes it authentic, as well as some other traits like the wooden window shades, the colonnade-like windows with a semi-circular curve on their top, along with an apse with fenced windows, next to which you will find a Jacuzzi. When walking through the villa and around its courtyard, you truly feel the passage of time and yourself as a momentary part of a rich heritage. Some of those Mediterranean plants outside provide shade under which you can enjoy the fresh sea air with a cup of tea or a book in hand, perhaps some accord on Dubrovnik’s history… Or Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, as the city was the TV series incarnation of a fictional town called King’s Landing.
The interior of the villa transcends the 16th and 17th century inspired exterior and brings forth the atmosphere of the 1930s, when it was built. Many of the elements within the villa are truly vintage, like the writing desk of the living room, along with the table and some other wooden and leather furniture, while the sofas are new, but stylistically vintage to fit into the theme of the villa. The flooring in most of the rooms is wooden, and the walls are painted in desert sand color or light beige, which perfectly fits the overall impression. Many decorations are present in the villa, ranging from paintings to lovely vases. The lighting is vintage as well, consisting of table lamps and elegant chandeliers. The villa comprises of 400m2 divided into two floors with terraces, and it can accommodate 10 + 2 persons on extra beds. The ground floor terrace with the lush vegetation was mentioned before, while the spacious stone terrace of the upper floor offers a spectacular view of the Old Town, the Fort of St. Lawrence and the Adriatic sea. The ground floor features two suites with private bathrooms, a large joint salon with a toilette and a completely furnished, fully equipped kitchen. On the upper floor of the villa, there are 3 suites, each with its own bathroom, two of which have an exit to the terrace. The villa is air conditioned, pet friendly with access to internet (WiFi). Maid service and a private chef are available on request.
Dubrovnik is claimed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world, mostly due to its perfectly preserved centuries old architecture, rich history, warm southern climate, emerald green and dark blue sea spilling into numerous bays and coves, with steep reefs decorated with lush Mediterranean and subtropical flora. The City of Dubrovnik is under UNESCO protection due to its long history and heritage – the real origin of the city is unclear, but it certainly is an old city, persevering on its stony cliffs for at least 14 centuries. There is a lot of things to do and explore within the city limits, and these are some of them: you can enjoy dramatic views of the sea and the cliffs by taking a walks along the defensive walls of the city, visit the monastery on an island of Lokrum 600m from the city (by ferry or kayak), enjoy the fresh air on the summit of Srđ, a round hill to which you can reach by foot or with an aerial cablecar and Lovrijenac – a 16th century seaside fortress built along a 37 meter rock face and currently hosting theatrical performances. We wish you a pleasant stay!
