With the approach of summer, many seek a destination to properly refill their batteries after a year of hard work in the fast-paced surrounding of the cities, with all the noise, commotion, smog and many distractions. One way of recharging is by connecting with the riches of nature, such as the clear sea, fragrant flora, lively fauna and nice weather. The other way might be in engaging summertime activities, like sailing, windsurfing, water polo, swimming, jet-ski, food and wine tasting, and more. In each case, here on the grand island of Brač you can have all your wishes fulfilled.
Villa Ranch is a beautiful rustic style villa situated just above the town of Supetar, on Brač. The property actually encompasses a vast amount of land and consists of two houses, the canopy covered fitness area (with a small sauna), and the paved surfaces like the patio, pathways and the terrace. As you park in front of the property, a patio surrounded by a stone wall with old lamps leads you to the main building, a lovely stone house with a red tiled roof and a nice pergola in front of the main entrance. On the big terrace of the main house is a large swimming pool, with the paved surfaces surrounding it mainly used for positioning of deck chair and lounging under the Sun. In the evening, the area is illuminated by traditional gas lamps you might chance upon in old cities. Down that terrace there is another paved surface, a sort of a maritime shrine with a pond and an rusty old anchor, a really nice addition. By the house is a stone fireplace fit for making barbecue, which you can enjoy outdoors by the wooden table under the pergola adorned with vines. In the garden there is a table tennis table and a playground for children, and the rest of the unpaved area is lush with vegetation of all kinds.
As you enter the houses, that same old rustic feeling is transfered to the interior, which is rich in elements supporting the claim. In the living room there is a traditional, comfortable sofa next to wich is a built in stone fireplace with a sturdy wooden beam for a mantle. Above the mantelpiece is an old sabre, a shotgun and a flintlock pistol, all of which have been rendered harmless of course. The use of wood throughout the houses is plenty, mostly in the furniture but largely in the view of decorations and ornaments that give life to the whole old style atmosphere – like the heavy wooden doors, a large treasure chest, wall shelves, cupboards and wardrobes. There are some built in shelves on the wall that serve as displays of ornaments, and they are made of stone and fitting to the whole theme. The property is ideal for 1-2 families with children. The houses combined have 3 rooms (one with two double beds, the other one with a double and a single bed), each house has a kitchen and a bathroom. The kitchens are fully equipped for your daily cooking needs. The place is air conditioned, with internet and WiFi available and pets are welcome!
Festivals and other cultural events are often held in Supetar (1km), the official center of the island where you can also do all your shopping. The famous Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) beach, pictured on many Croatian postcards, is located in Bol (42km), as well as the highest peak on Brač – Vidova gora, which offers a spectacular view of the coast and surrounding islands. More information on this topic is, of course, available on request. Enjoy your stay!
