Sometimes all you need for the peace of mind and heart is spending some time in the vicinity of untamed nature, somewhere a reasonable distance from all the commotion of big cities, the everlasting noise and the polluted air. Lika is a traditional region of Croatia, roughly bound by the Velebit mountain from the southwest and the Plješevica mountain on the northeast. Being in an uneven land with plenty of wildlife, vegetation, karst caves, rivers and streams, the density of population never rose to the amount present in prominent cities, so the area remained vastly untouched. This made it a desirable vacation spot for any seeking proper time out, and in any time of the year.
Apartments Taheli is a beautiful complex of three apartments located in Plaški, a village and a municipality in the Ogulin-Plaški valley. It is a complex of wooden and brick cottages made in the traditional fashion of the region. It is near the center of the village where you can find the stores, bakeries or other necessities, and yet far enough from it so that you have plenty of peace and privacy. Though lovely on the outside, the complex has a very inviting interior as well. The feeling of great warmth radiates from all the wood present within the cottages, making it a very pleasant place to spend time in, especially during the winter and autumn months, when a prolonged outdoor stay is not a very viable option. The furniture is also mostly wooden, apart from the sofas and a number of other elements, like the old stove or the metal table and chairs set upstairs. Each of the three apartments has 2 bedrooms, either with a double bed or two separate beds in every one, a kitchen equipped for most of your daily needs in terms of meal preparation and a bathroom with a shower cabin, a toilet and a lavatory. The windows all provide a truly grandiose view of the surrounding valley, of all the colors of nature, beautiful in any time of the season. The complex has internet and WiFi connection.
The village of Plaški is a small and serene place that has been building its touristic scene every year more and more in connection to the Plitvice National Park and ecological and agricultural tourism, where people can enjoy domestic ecological products, from different home made cheeses to fruits, meat, vegetables and honey. Plaški is a wonderful area for cycling, rafting, fishing, hiking, exploring the nature and interacting with domestic animals on nearby farms. Its a great place for children of all ages, peaceful and safe. The village is 30km from the Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of the oldest and the largest national park in Croatia. The national park is world-famous for its lakes arranged in cascades (currently, 16 lakes can be seen from the surface). The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colors, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue – the colors change constantly depending on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight, and it is a truly mesmerizing spectacle. One more exploration option is the Velebit mountain, namely the White and Samaria rocks reservation, a beautiful highland area.
