For a long awaited vacation, many flee to seaside. Often the feeling of diving into the clean, cold sea symbolizes cleansing from everyday life and the commencement of battery recharge. It is indeed a fine choice, as the natural surroundings have the greatest potential of providing proper relaxation and rest. Many places can provide such refreshment, but rare are those with a truly old soul, traditional Mediterranean spirit and the abundance of untouched natural beauties. One of those rare places is the increasingly popular coast of Croatia, with its many islands and archipelagos, and one of the most prominent examples of all the Adriatic advantages is the city of Split.
This fine holiday home is situated near the historic town of Klis (10km from Split) and the eponymous mountain pass. Such a position gives the property many advantages, the most obvious one it being a vantage point which provides gorgeous views all around – you can marvel at the dolomite rocks of the mountain pass, the lush Mediterranean vegetation and the city of Split below on the very coast. Villa Klis is designed in classic fashion of the Adriatic coast, with multiple two sloped roofs covered in red tiles, green window and door shades and a nice pergola in front of the villa covering the small garden of flowers. Its spaciousness, abundant content and large courtyard make it a perfect place for a family vacation. The courtyard has an organic garden, where guests are welcome to pick their own seasonal fruit and vegetables. Most of the surfaces are connected by a nice trimmed lawn, but a paved area leads to the upper terrace next to the house. On this terrace you can enjoy outdoor feasts under the wooden and metal pergola, where you will find a long table and a set of benches. Another great addition is the pool next to the pergola, surrounded by a number of sun loungers. The interior of Villa Klis is, for the most part, modernly designed, boasting gray tiles with wooden theme, walls painted white and plenty of glass surfaces. These spaces all feel airy and fresh, largely due to the reflected sunlight. There are some parts of the villa which incorporate traditional thematic, and the best example of this is the kitchen with its old school wooden elements. Nevertheless, it is fully equipped for all your daily needs. On the first floor you will find two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with bunk beds. The bathroom has a shower and a washing machine is available for use. The second floor has three bedrooms which accommodate 6 people, making it a total of 10 accommodation spaces. There is one full bath and one half-bath on this floor, as well a kitchen, a dining room with terrace, and a spacious living room. You can also find a workout room in the villa. The villa is air conditioned, with available internet and Wi-Fi.
The Klis mountain pass separates the mountains Mosor and Kozjak at the altitude of 360m. It has had a major strategic value throughout history, because any inland force passing through Klis would have been able to easily reach the entire region of Split and Kaštela. During the Ottoman wars in Europe, an already existing Roman fortress on a nearby hill was expanded into Klis Fortress. Klis was also ruled by Kingdom of Bosnia, Venetian Republic and Austria-Hungary. Due to its geographical position, Klis is also susceptible to a rather strong bura wind. The town has a number of grocery stores, restaurants and cafes. The Fortress is a definitive must-see, but if you enjoy history you will find a lot more content down in the city of Split, along with more shopping and sightseeing opportunities, as well as summer activities like sailing, surfing, scuba, cycling and more. We wish you a pleasant stay!
