If you want to experience one of the most beautiful parts of the Mediterranean and dive into local culture spanning back almost a millennium, Villa Bruna is just the place. It is situated in the southern part of the Croatian coast, in the Pearl of the Adriatic itself, Dubrovnik. In fact, the Old Town which got even more famous due to its representation of the fictional city called King’s Landing (from the HBO show Game of Thrones) is just a 10 minute walk away. This is a great advantage, as the property is far enough from the tourist hustle of the town center and you can get a proper rest in the peace of the quiet neighborhood.
Villa Bruna is an old fashioned property built in the traditional Mediterranean style, characterized by the wide use of stone (you can find it as the main material of the house, the walls of the enclosure and all of the low barriers within the courtyard, like the ones separating the lawn or garden from the paved terrace. Apart from that, there are some more recognizable elements, which were often used throughout the centuries, like the green wooden window and door shades, red tiles on the roof and the vine covered terrace in front of the villa, climbing over the stone and wood pergola. The terrace is a perfect place to relax for a while under the shadow of the old vine or enjoy outdoor meals prepared nearby, in a small shed with a stone fireplace. From the covered terrace, a stone stairway connects to the spacious courtyard of the villa, which contains a nice garden bursting with Mediterranean flora, which spread amazing fragrances and whose presence largely enhances the quality of time spent in the property. By the garden, the paved part of the courtyard is home to a nice swimming pool, next to which there are some wooden sun beds where you can relax in the sunlight. The interior of the villa is thematically connected to its exterior, as it is for the most part furnished in vintage fashion. This works perfectly without sacrificing any modern day comfort, and the atmosphere of the interior is as pleasant as it can get. A lot of wooden elements like the furniture, stairs, beams and door frames bring warmth to the place, while all the fine furniture adorns it with grace. The sofas in the living room are very comfortable, as are the beds of the villa’s bedrooms. Décor is various and wide, containing framed mirrors, paintings, pictures, ornaments and lovely vintage additions like the grandfather clock of the living room. The ground floor of the villa contains a fully equipped kitchen, a toilet, living room and a master suite with a working fireplace and en suite bathroom with a shower. All of the rooms open to the main terrace. The first floor has 5 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with showers, a toilet and access to the rooftop terrace with a table and chairs. The place is air conditioned, with internet access. Maid service and private chef available on request.
Dubrovnik is claimed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world, mostly due to its perfectly preserved centuries old architecture, rich history, warm southern climate, emerald green and dark blue sea spilling into numerous bays and coves, with steep reefs decorated with lush Mediterranean and subtropical flora. The City of Dubrovnik is under UNESCO protection due to its long history and heritage – the real origin of the city is unclear, but it certainly is an old city, persevering on its stony cliffs for at least 14 centuries. There is a lot of things to do and explore within the city limits, and these are some of them: you can enjoy dramatic views of the sea and the cliffs by taking a walks along the defensive walls of the city, visit the monastery on an island of Lokrum 600m from the city (by ferry or kayak), enjoy the fresh air on the summit of Srđ, a round hill to which you can reach by foot or with an aerial cablecar and Lovrijenac – a 16th century seaside fortress built along a 37 meter rock face and currently hosting theatrical performances. We wish you a pleasant stay!
