Located in a canal called Rijeka Dubrovacka, and only a short drive from the historical city of Dubrovnik, this beautiful stone villa is an ideal holiday destination for two or three families who wish to spend their free time in a quiet, peaceful setting within great natural riches. The surrounding area, or the village of Stara Mokosica is a wonderful place with approachable residents, and there you can find most of what you need without heading into the hustle and noise of larger tourist destinations. However, Dubrovnik is definitely a must-see, regardless of the potential crowds. We will get to Dubrovnik later on in the text, so first let’s talk about the villa. The surrounding area of the canal is filled with hills, and such a geological configuration gave birth to a wide variety of flora which you are sure to recognize – pine, cypress, palm trees, lavender, citrus and much more!
The large villa was made in traditional Mediterranean fashion, which means it utilizes stone as its main material, which fits naturally as the core element of traditional architecture, along with wooden window and door shades and red tiles on the roof. The property’s surface is very spacious and full of content all around the villa. There are a lot of green surfaces, rich gardens with many flowers, well-kept lawns, nicely trimmed shrubbery and smaller trees and more. Beside the gorgeous courtyard, you will find a paved terrace which houses a swimming pool next to which there are some sun loungers and parasols, making the place ideal for enjoying hot summer days while reading a book in the shade and refreshing in the pool. There is also another, covered terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue, where guests can spend lovely afternoons and evenings and have memorable feasts involving domestic cuisine. The area is covered with thick vines, making it all the more enjoyable. The interior of the villa is a blend of styles, which takes a fine eye to properly execute. This was done very well here, and you will surely appreciate the vintage furniture merging with the modern surroundings and equipment which provides all the comfort of modern day living. The furniture is elegant, comfortable and often wooden. The flooring is wooden as well, and this large amount of wood brings a certain warmth to the place. Plus, it goes perfectly well with the white and pistachio walls of the living/dining room. The villa’s kitchen is fully equipped for daily meal preparation. The house comprises of a large living space with a kitchen on the ground floor and of bedrooms (6), which are located on the first and second floor. On the upper floors there are balconies with wonderful views of the sea and the canal, into which the river Ombla flows. The kind house owner is at guests’ disposal and will happily organize a dinner with local specialties or give guests information about the places of interest. The villa is air conditioned, pet friendly and has access to internet (wi-fi). Maid service is available on request.
Most of what you’d need regarding grocery shopping can be found in the markets of Mokosica 500m away. The beach is very close to the villa, and so are some fine restaurants and café bars. We suggest visiting Dubrovnik for a lot of engaging content and a truly memorable vacation. Dubrovnik is claimed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world, mostly due to its perfectly preserved centuries old architecture, rich history, warm southern climate, emerald green and dark blue sea spilling into numerous bays and coves, with steep reefs decorated with lush Mediterranean and subtropical flora. The City of Dubrovnik is under UNESCO protection due to its long history and heritage – the real origin of the city is unclear, but it certainly is an old city, persevering on its stony cliffs for at least 14 centuries. There is a lot of things to do and explore within the city limits, be it in historical aspects or purely for fun (like sports, sailing, yachting, nightlife or fine cuisine).
