Rustic Villa in Starigrad is just the right place for anyone wanting to experience the essential Mediterranean spirit and to fully enjoy its gifts. Located in the town of Starigrad, the villa is a great abode and a starting point from which to explore both the city and the nature that surrounds it. More precisely, the villa is located on an area of 600 m2 at the entrance to National Park “Paklenica” Marasovići in an etno village, a quiet area, about 1 km from the beach. In accordance with traditional Mediterranean architecture and its aesthetics, the villa is made of high quality stone and even surrounded with a stone fence. The window and door covers are wooden and the villa has red tiles on the roof, all fitting elements, but that is not the end of it. The courtyard of this villa includes a stone paved terrace with a table and two benches, shadowed by a wooden pergola with canvass. A special wooden and glass structure next to the villa houses a swimming pool, and right beside the pool there is a bench and some sun beds, so you can fully enjoy leisure time under the sun while refreshing in the pool. The garden area covers 350m2 and it includes a variety of lovely indigenous plants whose fragrances you will surely appreciate, along with some other paved surfaces where you can enjoy your free days.
A villa claiming possession of a Mediterranean spirit would be nothing if it followed the principles only on the outside. Luckily, this villa’s interior is completely in harmony with its name, and it is truly a sight to see. Some of the interior walls are deliberately exposed brick or stone, you can find a lot of wooden furniture like the tables, benches, chairs, wardrobes, beds, etc. The feeling inside is very pleasant, warm and romantic. The lighting is old school and adds well to the atmosphere, as well as the abundance of stylistic decorative details, like the fishing nets, antiquities, other ornaments and plenty of paintings. There are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, all furnished in the same theme as the rest of the place. Services available for the guests, aside from the pool and the garden include a tavern with a kitchen + grill to spend some time preparing feasts (the kitchen is fully equipped, a dishwasher and a washing machine are available as well), a Swedish sauna, parking spaces, internet and Wi-Fi and solar heating of the pool and the villa (via solar panels). A private chef is available on request.
As for your grocery shopping needs, you can find all the stores, markets, liquor stores and bakeries in the town. You can also find some good quality restaurants where you can try local dishes, as well as more than a few good café bars. There is some history to explore: the oldest relic in the vicinity of Starigrad is the St. George Chapel in Rovanjska and St. Peter's Chapel in Starigrad from the ninth or tenth century. But the main attraction here is the Paklenica National Park. It’s known for the dramatic canyons of Velika and Mala Paklenica, plus karst rock formations and black-pine forests. Manita Peć cave features stalagmites, stalactites and numerous bat species. The park is also home to eagles, falcons, deer and bears. The Mala Paklenica Educational Center has exhibits on endangered birds of prey. Trails criss-cross the park, and hiking tours are often organized.
