HR54 Villa George

Description

Situated in the heights of the island of Hvar is its metaphorical crown, a place deserving of such a title due to its historical value and the purity of its surroundings. Villa George is located in a quiet, small village Gromin Dolac, 3km from the town of Jelsa and 15km from the old town Hvar. Such a position allows one to fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere created by the scarce population and the abundant nature. The property is rich in drywalls made of stone, all of which enclose fertile land with many various floral species like cypress, lavender, rosemary, sage, fig and olive. The heat of the sun and the gentle winds work together to extract and spread lovely fragrances of those plants all around the island. The house was built in a classical Mediterranean way, with stone as its primary material and wood as a secondary one. These materials are used in the rest of the property as well, like with the stone pillars supporting the wooden roof that shades the fireplace. Close to the fireplace is a wooden pergola with baldachin, under which you can find a table with a set of chairs making it a terrific place for outdoor feasts. Aside from all the gardens in the labyrinth of drywalls, there is a paved surface with a swimming pool and a set of deck chairs, where you can enjoy hot sunny days.
Once you enter Villa George, you encounter a warm, pleasurable atmosphere encouraged by the rustic décor of the interior. Even though the villa has been adapted and refurnished, it still kept its traditional look, which is visible in each room. The living room has rough, cream colored walls like the ones of South American mud houses, with many lovely maritime themed paintings spread throughout them. The ceiling features exposed beams of dark wood, the furniture consists of a number of smooth, comfortable sofas, and the most eye-catching piece in the room is the hearth with an iron cover. Its mantle carries antique ornaments that add to the general feel, and many of similar ornaments can be found all around the villa. There are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The inside walls of the bedrooms are also made out of stone, with the wooden roof covering the place and a wooden antique wardrobe in which to store your belongings. The bathrooms and the kitchen are fully equipped for your daily needs, and internet is available, with Wi-Fi for mobile devices.
You can find a shop in the village, but for general grocery shopping we suggest visiting Jelsa or Hvar. You can find most of what you need in terms of grocery shopping in the town centers, along with many bars, restaurants, bakeries, fish markets and more. There is an abundance of summertime options available like rent-a-boat, jet-ski and guided tours, and festivals that are often held in the old town. For exploration, we suggest visiting the mentioned Paklinski Islands (largely uninhabited and often described as being among the most beautiful islands in the world), Šćedro island, the Old Town Plain (if you’re up for some wine tasting), Tvrdalj Castle (a fortified Renaissance-era building that was the summer home of poet Petar Hektorović) and Fortica (a hilltop fortress with picturesque views). For more information regarding exploration or accommodation, feel free to ask. We wish you a pleasant stay!
